Liverpool looked set to part ways with the 21-year-old in July. So when Norwegian top flight Rosenborg offered a £3.5 million bid for the Spanish youngster the club accepted the offer. The Spaniard reportedly was off for talks with the Norwegian side.
However, later Chirivella rejected the deal. His decision was to wait for another offer, hopefully from England or Spain. Perhaps that was a mistake.
The ex-Spain U17s international is not likely to join the first team. He was a regular for the Reds U23s but he seems to be nowhere near Jurgen Klopp's plans. His contract expires in 2020 only, that said he looks set to get stuck with the Academy team until he is let free.
If Pedro Chirivella had chosen Rosenborg in the summer he could have been fighting for the club's 26th title and feature in the Europa League group stages.
