According to Sky Sports, Liverpool will not opt for Kalidou Koulibaly even if the need arises - which may happen if Dejan Lovren leaves the club.
The report claims that it's the Senegalese's hefty price tag that stands in the way of a potential signing. Spending more than £60 million on a 29-year-old certainly doesn't fit the strict transfer policy Liverpool will stick to this summer.
However, should Liverpool receive any suitable bids on Lovren, finding a new centre-back will most certainly appear on this transfer window's to-do list for Klopp.
It goes both ways, however. The club will let Lovren go only if the Reds will be sure they will find a sufficient replacement for the Croat by the end of the transfer window. Still, Klopp will be looking for someone who is less expensive than Koulibaly.
Liverpool have been long linked with the 29-year-old, with some of the recent rumours suggesting that Lovren may be offered to Napoli to drive down Koulibaly's price tag. However, frankly speaking, the actual probability of the transfer has rarely been that much far away from zero.
