Silky smooth skill in a game to remember: Curtis Jones' fantastic display summed up

Curtis Jones was on fire tonight as he scored 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes and had a 10/10 game as he tore the Lincoln City defence apart with ease.

While both of his goals were memorable, it's his second goal of the night from outside the box which really stands out.

The midfielder receives a pass just outside the box with one defender closing down on him.

Bad mistake - Jones takes one step ahead of the advancing Lincoln player and brings the ball back into some space.

He backheels the ball into more space and now he is facing the goal.

Two defenders try and close down as Jones had just scored from inside the box a few minutes ago, but the duo is no match for the teenager's skill as he simply moves the ball away from them with the slightest of touches.

The defenders are completely out of the picture and a shot is on - we all know what happens next!

Here are the Scouser's stats from tonight as he was declared man of the match by Sky Sports after the game (stats via WhoScored):

  • Goals - 2
  • Shots - 5 (most in the game)
  • Dribbles - 4 (most in the game)
  • Long balls - 9/9 completed (2nd most in the game)
  • Fouls Won - 4
  • Tackles - 2
  • Interceptions - 2
  • Pass Accuracy - 92.4%

A night to remember for the young lad and we're sure more is to come!
