"To win the Champions League for any footballer is the top title.
"We are really happy because we have beaten a fantastic team in Manchester United," Mascherano concluded.
Mascherano's Barcelona beat United 3-1 at Wembley in May 2011.
Mascherano had publicly announced his desire to leave Liverpool after the direction the club had taken under the ownership of Gillett and Hicks.
However, Mascherano had last year talked about how Liverpool has a special place in his heart, despite his trophy-laden time at Barcelona.
