"I was nervous because I wasn't starting at first. Joel Matip was meant to play. He had a problem with his back, so the boss came to me and said 'be ready because you are starting, Joel has failed his fitness test,'" Rhys Williams told UMM's Youtube Channel.
"So that was say five or six hours before training and I had to get my head together because that was my first game in the Premier League with Kane and Son up top."
"I was nervous but the boys helped me through it."
Williams was also asked to name the most vocal players on WhatsApp and the youngster said: "I’d probably say the captain or maybe Virg, because obviously he’s not been playing with his injury, so before every game he’s wishing everyone good luck and stuff like that, and the skipper is always the one who is replying first."
Rhys Williams spent last season out on loan at Kidderminster FC in the 6th division.
This season, the 20-year-old has made 12 appearances for Liverpool, including 5 in the Champions League.
Williams' debut in the league came against Tottenham back in December, a game that the Reds won 2-1 thanks to a late Bobby Firmino header.
