'Phil Thompson rates him highly': Ex-player Charlie Nicholas urges Celtic to make move for Kelleher

Despite Kelleher committing to a new long-term deal for Liverpool, pundit Charlie Nicholas wants Celtic to make a bid for the goalkeeper.

“Caoimhin Kelleher has already played in the Liverpool first team, he is another one,” Nicholas told the Scottish Daily Express.

“My mate Phil Thompson rates him highly and he’s another who wouldn’t be overly expensive.”

Celtic are in need of players having been upstaged by Steven Gerrard's Rangers, who ended up breaking their stranglehold on Scottish football.

A loan could be a possibility for the young Irishman but Liverpool seem happy to keep him for the time being.
