Thiago nets penalty in shootout but Spain crash out of Euro 2020 as Italy advance to final

Thiago Alcantara was only involved in 15 minutes of Spain and Italy's 120-minute semi-final at Wembley.

The scores were tied 1-1 at the end of extra-time and the game then went into a penalty shootout.

Thiago stepped up to take Spain's 3rd penalty and made no mistake as he calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.

However, Alvaro Morata missed his penalty and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho scored the last one to give Italy a 4-2 win in the shootout.

Thiago was not very involved for Spain across the tournament as his role was limited to that of a substitute - however, Liverpool fans will surely be glad to see him escape injury!

He will report back at Liverpool in 3 weeks time as we prepare for the next season.
