"He’s pushing, he did it already at Preston [in the Carabao Cup]," Klopp said about Williams in his pre-match press conference.
"Neco is a young player and he plays with Liverpool, we are a pretty good football team, it’s not that easy to get into the first team on his maybe natural position – I’m not sure if really right-back is the natural position.
"But there is Trent Alexander-Arnold and if he couldn’t play – and Neco was not fit then – James Milner played there in an incredible way, to be honest.
"But Neco, I saw images of his performances [for Wales] and he did really well, especially offensively, big chance against Belgium in the last minute or so.
"It’s all about pushing and that’s what he is doing, so he is not doing anything wrong. And then it’s about the opportunity coming up."
Neco Williams excelled playing in the left wing-back role for Wales and this might prompt some thinking on what he can do for Liverpool from Jurgen Klopp.
With the fixtures coming thick and fast for the rest of the calendar year though, Neco can be expected to play more than he has recently.
