Mohamed Salah's Instagram story after the FA Cup win last night saw him celebrating the big night with a man sitting in a wheelchair:
Later on, the same man was spotted celebrating the trophy inside the Liverpool dressing room:
Fans want to know who this man is and we have the answer for you. His name is Moamen Zakaria, an Egyptian football player who plays as an attacking midfielder.
In 2020, Zakaria was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), that results in a progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles. The affected muscles are responsible for chewing food, speaking, and walking. Motor neuron loss continues until the ability to eat, speak, move, and finally, the ability to breathe is lost.
Zakaria has been unable to play football since 2020 due to this disease and he is confined to a wheelchair. However, his condition is not so bad that he cannot breathe or talk yet.
Salah invited his friend to the game and made sure to celebrate with him afterwards - our Egyptian King has a heart of gold!
We hope Zakaria can beat this disease and return to playing the sport he loves.
