Pep Lijnders returns to work early, set to decide which youngsters will join pre-season squad

As per the Liverpool Echo, assistant coach Pep Lijnders has arrived back to work early to watch the academy this week.

Lijnders will keep a close eye on the club's academy talents and youth teams as he is set to decide which youngsters will join Jurgen Klopp's pre-season training camp.

The U18 and U23 teams returned to training this week, with the first team players set to report to Kirkby on July 4 (the coming Monday).

"This week-long audition is what earned Kaide Gordon his promotion last year, with Conor Bradley, Owen Beck and Tyler Morton also earning maiden senior call-ups," the Echo adds.

The Reds' pre-season camp starts on July 12 with a game against Manchester United with five more games scheduled before the season begins.
