'A really proud moment': Scouse boy Harvey Davies reacts to Liverpool debut in Palace win

The Crystal Palace game in Singapore was a significant event for one Socuse lad who made his Liverpool debut.

Harvey Davies is an 18-year-old keeper who has come through the club's academy where he played since the age of nine. He came on after half-time in the Palace game, being later subbed off for another youngster Fabian Mrozek.

"It was obviously really special for me – first game I’ve played so now the debut is done," Davies told the official Liverpool website.

"It was nice to do it out here in Singapore in front of all these fans as well. It’s a really proud moment for me and my family.

"I know they were all watching back home; it was a bit of a shame they couldn’t be here but I know they will be absolutely really proud of me and I’m really happy for myself as well."

When asked about his next objective, the keeper replied: "To keep cracking on, keep making next steps. I made a step tonight. And pretty much just keep going up and try not to slow down and just keep making the same progress that I can."

Of course, it'll be some time before Davies can play a significant role in the first team at Anfield. Alisson is not going anywhere, and Caoimhin Kelleher is as good a back-up as anyone.

Still, it's nice to know that the Liverpool academy keeps producing players who can impress Klopp enough to have a look at in the pre-season. What follows is up to them.
