'We are now Liverpool of 2014': Man United fan's tweet goes viral after club linked with two average players

Manchester United lost their opening Premier League game 1-2 against Brighton at Old Trafford in what was a terrible performance from our rivals.

Despite signing three players so far this summer, they have failed to address the major issues in their squad. Over the last 24 hours, they have been linked with two players - Marko Arnautovic and Adrien Rabiot.

Arnautovic is 33 years old and has spent three of the last four seasons with Shanghai Port after leaving West Ham in 2018.

Rabiot, meanwhile, has regressed over the last three years and Juventus are reportedly desperate to get rid of him. He is certainly not the world-class midfielder that United need.

A Man United fan's tweet over these transfer targets went viral:

Liverpool had a terrible transfer window in 2014, signing Rickie Lambert, Lazar Markovic and Mario Balotelli to replace Luis Suarez.

The Reds finished sixth in the Premier League and played some terrible football, leading to Steven Gerrard's departure and then Brendan Rodgers' sacking in October 2015.

United finished sixth last season and have not won a trophy since 2017 now while being linked with players who won't help them contend for a major title. As a Liverpool fan, it's wonderful to see this downfall!
