Gareth Southgate opens up on motive behind ignoring Trent

"It’s nothing to do with the World Cup," Gareth Southgate said on Channel 4 about the omission of Trent Alexander-Arnold from the England squad.

"We have four right backs with exceptional quality.

"Kieran Trippier is playing exceptionally well and Reece James has been one of the outstanding players in the league.

"We know Trent is a very very good footballer and that’s why we picked him in the squad," Southgate added.

Perhaps Trent may still make Southgate's World Cup squad. As per talent and quality, his omission is inexplicable.
