Richest Briton Jim Ratcliffe 'rules himself out' of buying Liverpool

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the UK's richest man reportedly worth £21bn, has 'ruled himself out' of buying 

"Our position has developed since the summer and we are now focusing our efforts in Nice and raising our ambitions for the club to make them into a top tier club in France to compete with 

"This would represent much better value for our investment than buying one of the top tier Premier League clubs."

Following reports that FSG are open to selling 

 and are inviting offers, fans have been discussing who they want to see buying the club.

Many fans don't want a nation state buying the club (like 

), while a portion of supporters wouldn't be happy with owners coming from the US.

So some fans are calling on Jim Ratcliffe, the UK's richest man, to take over from FSG.

The 70-year-old is a football fan, already owns two clubs (Lausanne in Switzerland and Nice in France) and was in the running to buy 

 after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government.

Ratcliffe's net worth is reportedly around £21bn — and the fact that he's a life-long 

 fan did not stop some Liverpool fans from asking him to buy the Reds.

John Henry-owned newspaper confirms FSG consider selling Liverpool

The Boston Globe, a newspaper owned by John Henry, claim that FSG are open to selling 

"FSG is trying to gauge whether it is better to attract new investors in its Liverpool Football Club or simply sell it," the Boston Globe reads.

Earlier today, The Athletic reported that FSG have put up Liverpool for sale. Some have doubted the credibility of the report as FSG's statement of the matter was rather vague and didn't explicitly confirm it.

Be careful what you wish for is the quote being banded about at the moment . Football is not what it used to be . Unfortunately if you want to compete at the top you have to have top money . The days of a local business man or family owning the local team have gone for ever . What price for winning are people prepared to pay . Do you turn a blind eye if it means an extra piece of silverware at the end of the season . To challenge the likes of City , Newcastle, Chelsea , PSG and there will be more over the next few years you have to BIG Investors most of which will have dubious backgrounds . We have always been a club that is seen to be a club of the people is that about to change ?????
