Liverpool midfielder might be called up for World Cup as injury hits England camp

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott might be called up to the World Cup by England.

This comes after James Maddison succumbed to a knee injury that has prevented him from participating in drills with the rest of the group since they landed in Qatar.

Elliott is a strong contender to receive the big call to replace Maddison but Southampton's James Ward-Prowse and Chelsea's Ruben Loftus Cheek are also hoping for a call.

Gareth Southgate has until Sunday to decide whether to drop Maddison from the squad and call up Elliott or someone else.
