Ex-Everton and Man United forward Wayne Rooney has admitted that Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the players he's most excited to watch during the World Cup in Qatar.
"I’m really intrigued to see what Gareth Southgate does with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Personally, I would start him," Rooney wrote in his column for The Times.
The Liverpool right-back has not been a regular starter under Southgate. He might have a bigger chance to play at the start of this competition, however: Reece James is ruled out through injury while Kyle Walker is not fully fit.
Still, there's a chance Southgate goes with a more solid option in Kieran Trippier rather than start Trent when England play against Iran on Monday.
