“Gakpo is gone. PSV are not going to keep him, and cannot keep him anymore," Dutch journalist Hans Kraay said, as quoted by ESPN.
"At Liverpool, assistant Pepijn Lijnders is charmed by him, so he is chasing Jürgen Klopp. Yes, Gakpo is gone."
However, Liverpool will face competition from United, Kraay believes.
"The chance that it will be Manchester United is now a lot higher again, because Ronaldo has left. They have even more money available," he added.
Gakpo has been one of the most exciting players to watch in Europe this season. The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in 23 appearances for PSV so far this campaign. He has netted two times in two World Cup matches.
