'We need him at Liverpool': Reds-linked midfielder scores insane goal at World Cup

Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez scored a stunning goal in the final minutes of the Argentina v Mexico game at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old sealed a 2-0 win for his side with a brilliant right-footed effort from a tight angle. Unfortunately, we can't show you the video due to copyright issues but make sure to find it on YouTube or FIFA's official website!

The Benfica man had a brilliant game overall, registering two ball recoveries, a take-on, 22 passes and four won duels in just 33 minutes on the pitch.

Fernandez has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool. He has scored three goals and provided five assists in 24 assists for Benfica so far this season.

Liverpool fans are urging the club to sign Enzo.

Maxi: "Liverpool’s midfield would benefit so much fron Enzo Fernández. The ball progressing, the grit, the passing. Only 21 years old too and would make the difference over a long period of time, with a lot upside more to be seen."

Da Lacc: "Enzo Fernandez at Liverpool would be generational."

Sadio SZN: "If anyone’s wondering what kind of player Enzo Fernandez is watch him at the World Cup. His passing is like Thiago with the nastiness and the dog of a South American player and on top of that has that energy that Klopp wants in midfield, we need him at Liverpool."

Some comments are quite ironic though considering Liverpool rarely spend a lot of money on players.

David Segar: "Loved Enzo Fernandez's goal but it would be smashing if Liverpool's reported midfield targets could stop scoring World Cup goals and driving their prices up!"

Liam Corcoran: "Enzo Fernandez scores a worldie to etch his name into the illustrious list of midfielders Liverpool now cannot afford."
