Liverpool want to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, reporter Florian Plettenberg claims.
Several Premier League clubs are keen on landing the 26-year-old but Liverpool are said to be particularly interested. He is 'next to Bellingham and Caicedo' in the Reds' shortlist, Plettenberg says.
Amrabat will cost more than €30m, it is claimed.
The midfielder has started in all three of Morocco's games at the World Cup so far, helping his team earn a shock qualification for the knockout stages at the expense of tournament favourites Belgium.
A quick look at Amrabat's stats at Fiorentina shows that his passing ability is exceptional. He makes 5.96 progressive passes per 90 minutes, more than 97% of other midfielders in Europe's top five leagues. His pass completion rate stands at 90.6%.
The 26-year-old's weakness appears to be his defensive skills: he makes 1.97 tackles per game and just 0.87 interceptions, both metrics well below average for a midfielder.
