Man City defeated Liverpool 3-2 on in the League Cup. It was a good game from both sides, with the Reds wasting a number of chances to win and advance to the next round.
Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola piled praise on Liverpool and their defensive structure. The Reds are known for their intensive pressing all over the pitch which makes it difficult for the opposition to play out from the back.
"Liverpool are so difficult, when they play well, they destroy you. I give a big compliment to my players for playing the way they did against that team," Guardiola said after the game.
"It's not easy to keep the ball against Liverpool because they have a defensive structure that is the most difficult I've ever faced in my career.
"They don't need anything to score and create chances. When they are much better they destroy you."
