Speaking after the Chelsea game in which he made his full Premier League debut, Liverpool youngster Stefan Bajcetic praised Thiago for helping him adapt to the first team.
"He's always trying to help me and on the pitch he's talking to me, encouraging me. It's amazing to play with him and so easy as well," the 18-year-old told the club's website.
We know that Thiago acts like a captain without the armband at Liverpool, helping other players with language and adaptation. But his history with Bajcetic goes deeper than that.
As it turns out, Stefan's father, Srdan Bajcetic, and Thiago's father Mazinho shared the pitch at Celta in the 1996-97 season.
Both midfielders, Srdan and Mazinho played several matches together as Celta managed to beat champions Real Madrid in one of the games that season.
Only time will tell if the Thiago–Stefan partnership will blossom in the Liverpool midfield, but they both did really well against Chelsea.
