Liverpool wage bill jumps from fourth to second in Prem

Liverpool's financial accounts for the previous season are set to be published soon. Deloitte reveal that the club's wage bill will now be second in the Premier League, behind Man United.

The Red Devils spend £384m on wages, while Liverpool's outlay is £368m, a whopping 62 per cent of their revenue. Man City pay £354m to their players.

The Reds spent £314m on wages in 2021/22. The reason behind the £54m surge last season is new contracts given that season to key players such as Alisson, Trent and Fabinho.

Interestingly, Liverpool's wage bill in 2021/22 was fourth among Premier League clubs, behind United, City and Chelsea.

Note that this season's expenses and revenue have not been accounted for.
