Liverpool's only midfield signing this season has been a loan deal for Arthur. It's clear the Reds' midfield needs change but Jamie Carragher is not putting blame on FSG for not strengthening this area.
"It’s obvious they have been working on Jude Bellingham for a long time," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"Dortmund weren’t going to sell him in the summer, so maybe they have thought that this midfield can get us through. I’ve said this before – it’s just blown up in their face.
"It’s their job to see things before they happen and they have got that wrong, no doubt about it.
"But I can understand it, and I’m not going to be massively critical of them not bringing in a midfielder in the summer, as the two players that they want [Tchouameni and Bellingham] were not available."
