Liverpool and Everton charged by FA over mass confrontation in Merseyside derby

Liverpool and Everton have been charged by the Football Association in England over what has been termed a 'mass confrontation' in the Merseyside derby on Monday.

The incident took place in the 86th minute of the game between the two Merside clubs following a disagreement between Everton goalie Jordan Pickford and Andrew Robertson. Both players were booked afterwards.

The brawl saw players from the Liverpool bench like Virgil Van Dijk getting involved before it was resolved after a few minutes. Liverpool were leading 2-0 at the time.

The FA accuses both clubs of failing to ensure that their players "conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour".

Both teams have been given until February 20 to respond to the charges.

If found guilty, both teams could receive hefty fines as consistent with similar offences.
