Ahead of England's Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy, Steven Gerrard was asked about Jude Bellingham and the comparison that some people draw between them.
"Listen, that’s not for me to comment on right now but we’ll certainly talk about a potentially world-class footballer," Gerrard said on Channel 4.
"Someone who really seems focused at the moment, I think Gareth Southgate is trying to build a team around him, he’s that much of a talent.
"He could play in a slightly different role tonight, it’s important to mention even if he plays as that number 10 he might have to receive with his back to play a little bit which is different from running onto everything and arriving in the box, but I think he’s got a specific role today out of possession to jump all over Jorginho and Veratti if he can, steal the ball and break because there could be a goal there for him. A top, top talent, for sure."
There's no secret that Liverpool are interested in signing Bellingham, but it is going to be a tough task.
According to the latest reports, Liverpool are not in such a strong position in comparison with Man City and Real Madrid when it comes to the financial side of the deal. However, the Reds will likely still pursue it, trying to convince Bellingham of the project.
