Liverpool are poised to complete the signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
In Gravenberch, the Reds will be getting a talented, robust midfielder who can operate in multiple roles.
With that being said, let’s look at the two ways Liverpool can line up with Gravenberch.
Option 1: In the midfield trio
Gravenberch’s best position is as a no.8, as he thrives under the freedom that allows him to create chances and run the tempo of the game for his side.
As a result, he could play alongside Alexis Mac Allister as a fellow no.8, with the two helping Liverpool dominate games and also create chances going forward.
Option 2: In a deeper role
While it’s not his natural role, but Gravenberch can play in a defensive midfield role if needed. He is pretty decent defensively and can help create more chances from a deeper position too.
Perhaps Jurgen Klopp can try it against weaker opponents, but Gravenberch is a possible option for that deeper role.
