Liverpool confirm how many games Jota and Jones will miss after red card vs Spurs

Liverpool tried to get the erroneous red card shown to Curtis Jones overturned but their appeal was unsuccessful as the FA upheld the decision to send off the midfielder for endangering the safety of an opponent.

Liverpool have now confirmed that Jones will miss their next three league games, including games against Brighton, Everton and Nottingham Forest all in the month of October.

Diogo Jota also got a red card after a second yellow card in the game against Spurs. The attacker will only serve a one-game ban. As confirmed by Liverpool, Jota will miss Liverpool's trip to Brighton on Sunday.

What's surprising is that Jones is being made to serve the maximum suspension a player would get for violent conduct.

As for Jota, the first yellow card against him was dubious considering Destiny Udogie kicked himself and fell over before asking the ref to book the Portuguese. The second yellow can also be considered a dive.

Liverpool will now resort to their strength in depth to live without the two important players.
