"I think we were in control," Kostas Tsimikas told the official Liverpool website after the Reds' 2-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League.
"Of course we played a very tough team, I think they defended very well from the first moment until the last moment.
"I think we try to dominate the game, we try to play the football we play always. The second goal came at the end, so we are very happy with the result.
"For me, it's special," Tsimikas added when asked about playing in the competition.
"I played in the past with Olympiacos in the Europa League. Since my first game when I played with Olympiacos, I wanted to win this trophy.
"I think the road is open for us. Of course, it's going to be difficult but I think that's why this team is made to go through and try to win everything."
So far, Tsimikas' trophy haul with Liverpool is limited to a cup double in the 2021-22 season, so he'll naturally want to add more. Besides, the Greece left-back is a regular starter in the competition.
