Liverpool FC: 'Rest in peace, Sir Bobby Charlton'

Sir Bobby Charlton has passed away at the age of 86. Sir Bobby, a true football legend, was a key player in England's 1966 World Cup win and had an outstanding career at Manchester United.

He made 758 appearances and scored 249 goals. Bobby Charlton helped secure three league titles, the 1968 European Cup, and an FA Cup for the club.

Off the field, he was a close friend of Bill Shankly and paid tribute to the Hillsborough tragedy victims in 2012. Sir Bobby even invited the families of the 97 fans who lost their lives in 1989 to watch a match between the two clubs at Old Trafford.

Liverpool FC tweeted: "Rest in peace, Sir Bobby Charlton. A true footballing great whose legacy will live on." Sir Bobby passed away peacefully on a Saturday morning, surrounded by his family.
