Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has echoed the thoughts of some fans as he blamed the club owners for the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
"We all know why [Klopp is leaving], and is FSG in my opinion," the Spaniard wrote on Instagram. "He has got tired of them simple as that. I’m so mad right now."
Klopp, however, saw the comment and sought to rebut it.
"I saw Jose Enrique, who I like a lot, say it is about FSG. I can tell you, absolutely, FSG has nothing to do with it," the boss told a press conference.
"It would be easy in this job to blame the owners and say FSG should spend more," he added.
"Was I always happy with that? No, but they built two stands, this AXA Centre for the next 40/50 years, we did it properly, the LFC way, which I love. That we didn't win Champions League, Premier League... not down to [money]."
Klopp has worked with FSG for more than eight years and rarely expressed irritation with them if he had any.
Still, the time has come for him to announce his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season, while FSG will need to search for his replacement.
