Alonso prefers Bayern to Liverpool — report

Xabi Alonso is 'focused' on Bayer Leverkusen despite links with Bayern and Liverpool, German journalist Florian Plettenberg reports via Sky Sports.

The Spaniard is currently 'more willing' to sign for Bayern than for the Reds. Both sides have 'enquired' about the 42-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are set to leave Liverpool and Bayern, respectively, at the end of the season.

Alonso's Bayer are currently first in the Bundesliga standings, eight points ahead of Bayern. They are also alive in the German Cup and the Europa League.

Note that the opposite — that Xabi wants Liverpool over Bayern — was reported last week.
