Mac Allister 9, Diaz 6: Liverpool player ratings in Luton victory

Liverpool defeated Luton 4-1 in a dramatic comeback victory. The Reds conceded early on but turned things around after the break, with Van Dijk, Gakpo, Diaz and Elliott getting on the scoresheet.

Here is how we rated the players.

Mac Allister: 9/10. Single-handedly turned the game around with two brilliant assists.

Bradley: 8. Throw-in taken quickly! Gets his own iconic moment so early in his career, with his quick throw-in resulting in a Gakpo goal. Was one of the best players in the second half. Brilliant movement down that right-hand side, creating chances for his teammates.

Gakpo: 8. Good movement and link-up play — and excellent positioning and finishing to power Liverpool into the lead.

Van Dijk: 8. Stepped up when needed most to equalise for the Reds with a thumping header. Could have bagged a brace but was denied by a big save by Kaminski.

Elliott: 8. A very decent performance, sprayed some really good passes. Scored to mark reaching 100 Liverpool appearances.

Gomez: 8. Didn't score that first goal everyone wants him to score but his defending was impeccable.

Gravenberch: 7. Good pressing from the Dutchman, drove the ball forward well.

Danns: 7. Was given a few minutes off the bench and played a brilliant through ball for Gakpo preceding Elliott's goal.

Diaz: 6. Wasted two great chances to break the deadlock early on. Missed another one shortly after the half-hour's mark and another big one early in the second half. Diaz made Darwin Nunez's finishing look like that of Luis Suarez. cored to make it 3-1 so we can't give him a low mark — but his earlier misses could have cost Liverpool today.

Kelleher: 4. Could have had an assist in the second minute of the game had Diaz scored after the Irishman's excellent pass. Excellent distribution all game. However, the main part of his game is goalkeeping and Caoimhin should have done much better for Luton's opener. To his credit, made a couple of good saves in the second half.

Others: Robertson 7.5; Quansah 7; Clark, Endo 6.5; McConnell N/A
