Darwin Nunez shared insights into his friendship with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, revealing why Suarez once called him an "idiot." Nunez opened up about their bond as they prepare to represent Uruguay together at the upcoming Copa America in the United States.
Nunez faced challenges early in his Liverpool journey, notably being sent off during his home debut in August 2022 for an incident involving Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen.
Suarez, known for his own controversial moments during his time at Anfield, had some blunt advice for the 24-year-old forward.
Nunez said: "With Luis we sometimes talk about a little bit of everything. For example, we talk about a lady in the Liverpool kitchen who adores Luis very much. The last time we talked about her, she sent her regards."
"Off the field we have a very good bond, I always follow him because Luis is an idol for me, and he also advises me a lot. For example, the time the headbutt thing happened, Luis was the first to write to me."
