Pep Lijnders could face Liverpool in Champions League next season as head coach of dominant European club

Pep Lijnders is set to leave Liverpool when manager Jurgen Klopp departs at the end of the season.

According to The Athletic, Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg want him to take over the head coach position at the club.

Salzburg recently let Gerhard Struber go and see Lijnders as the ideal candidate to take over from him.

They are currently second in the league and would likely go through the CL qualification rounds to play in the Champions League next season.

Salzburg are two points behind leaders Sturm Graz and with just one game left to play, there is a chance they could directly qualify for the CL group stage too.

If Lijnders joins Salzburg, there is a good chance he could face Liverpool in Europe's elite competition next season.
