Klopp details meeting Trent's mother for farewell: 'She was worried when I came in in 2015'

Trent Alexander-Arnold was coming through the academy ranks back in 2015 when Jurgen Klopp was appointed Liverpool manager.

Fast forward eight and a half years and the German is leaving Anfield, with the right-back a vice-captain and a legend in the making. So the 25-year-old's mother paid the boss a visit before his final game in charge of the club.

Klopp said on the Anfield Wrap podcast: “This morning Trent's mum was here, she wanted to say thank you and goodbye. She told me what she thought when Brendan [Rodgers] left and I came in.

“They told her before when your boy is that age you need an English manager because other managers don't look at the academy. She was really worried. How that all worked out was a beautiful story.”
