Van Dijk says no Liverpool new deal offer yet: 'Nothing on the table'

Virgil van Dijk's contract with Liverpool expires in 2025. There have been reports that the Reds will begin talks over a new deal with the defender after they are done choosing a successor to Jurgen Klopp.

Arne Slot is all but officially announced as the next Reds manager but no contract offer to Van Dijk has been made at the moment, as per the captain himself.

“My future is not important at the moment," Van Dijk said after the Wolves game, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo. "The only thing I can say now is if I have a farewell I don't think I would keep it dry (not cry) because that was something I was very surprised with with him (Klopp).

"These fans are something else and eventually when they say goodbye to you then it will be special. Even with Joel Matip, I said: 'How did you manage to keep it dry pal?'

"He just wanted to walk through [the guard of honour] quickly and stand with us so I think he did that pretty well. At the moment there is nothing for me to say. Nothing has changed and nothing is on the table either. No changes in my situation at all."
