Madrid aren't in financial difficulties, they financed their stadium in a sensible sustainable manner, they're not as cash rich as it often seems, but certainly not in difficulties.

And we're not Real, so we're not even similar to them. Our club is ran differently to all the rest. Hence the fact that we're one of the few clubs to regularly turn profits, but also we do our transfers different, it's about the right fit rather than spending loads of money. It doesn't work.

We gave frustrating owners, but we also have owners who genuinely care about the club and want to keep her healthy. Those are the best owners we can hope for, they invest wisely.

Surely, when you see Chelsea,Utd and Barca, you still can't think the way to win stuff is to throw money at it

ask yourself do you really think FSG would have spent that money without the Coutinho Sale? 

However there's no klopp now to pull Rabbits out of Hat's so we will see what FSG,'s policy will be?

 I'm not having a go at FSG  as you and Dave are both right we're a well run club, however we still need to be competitive and winning trophies otherwise from a fan's perspective we're just making up the number's and that's not great, 

yes sustainability is great and all that but trophies are what counts...

Nah man, Couts didn't pay for anything and the pundits that say it did are full of shite. It didn't happen as Barca never actually paid us for him. If you look at what any sports finance says in regard to the Couts deal, we were left out of pocket.

We sold the debt to a corporate debt collection agency and took a massive loss on what we should've gained from the Couts deal. All Barca paid over the 4 years after he left was 23m. It was only 2 seasons ago we actually got the remainder from the collection agency at hefty loss.

Ali and VVD were brought in using the clubs available finances that were given a little boost with a £45m interest free loan from FSG.

So we can say without doubt, the club would've bought both Ali and Virg regardless, as the ownership would've been able to fund it anyway.

I'd also argue that many of the players we signed that were in our famous title winning team, would've been signed with or without Klopp as Edwards was already after them. I'm not saying that Klopp hasn't a draw and had nothing to do with players joining us, clearly he did. But credit where it's due, FSG have put the club where it is, FSG signed Klopp, it's them who made finances available and we pay the 3rd highest wages in European football.

I think it's unfair to always be on the ownership and saying how awful they are and how little they care, as that's not true. Transfer fees on players have no correlation with performance of any team, whereas wages have a direct correlation. The higher the wage bill, the higher the chances of success. If a club can spend about 70% of the turnover on wages, they'll have success and sustainability. We are competitive in the transfer market, but we refuse to pay more than a players value, which to me makes sense

ok bud, fair enough and well put....👏 in my defence I wasn't actually having a go at FSG as i do appreciate the good they have done, they are no Angels of course, and I do get frustrated with our buying policy as i feel we miss out on players because of the penny pinching and last minute snipping ,but like you said they have there reasons and they know way more than me, so i will keep my fingers crossed and hope Edwards works his magic 🤞🤞 cheers bud!! 

Absolutely man, they frustrate the fuck outta me even though I often understand why they do what they do. They're all business people and are in it for the money and they'll do what needs to be done to protect that money, which thankfully for us means they must be careful with LFC as we are the flagship Sports team due to the sheer size of the club and to the annoyance of Sox fans.

I'd be concerned with Edwards being back albeit in a role at FSG rather than LFC, as he has a history of not paying a single penny more than he feels a player is worth, and the same with selling players, so it's probably safe to assume that he would've instructed Hughes to work with a similar approach.

We were a little more free spending when Kloppo was given almost free reign on transfers, so I guess we'll be a little bit tighter again🤦🏼‍♂️😭

let's see what happens bud, this is going to be interesting, i still can't get used to Not seeing Klopp dealing with LFC 🤪🤪 and I'm struggling with Slot not that I've got any concerns but to see him as our manager especially when a lot of our Article's are still very much klopp related 😁 but hopefully that will calm down now he's had his send off and moved on,  which without sounding harsh i think it's best we all now just concentrate on Slot and let klopp do his own thing now, 👍
