Salah as no. 9 — Liverpool's best XI for US tour

Liverpool are travelling across the pond today as they embark on a US pre-season tour. The Reds will play three friendlies there, with the 28-squad for the tour already announced.

What would be the best XI Arne Slot could field, consisting of these players?

One of the first things that catches an eye is the absence of a no. 9. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are still on vacation so perhaps Mo Salah could play through the middle.

There is a lack of options at centre-back, too. Sepp Van den Berg gets a chance to prove himself alongside Jarell Quansah. There are very few options left as Nat Phillips is transfer-listed so Stefan Bajcetic might have to change his position to play at centre-back if Van den Berg or Quansah need a rest.

There are plenty of youngsters in the squad and we hope that the likes of Tyler Morton, Amara Nallo and Ben Doak play they part in the pre-season fixtures.

So here is our Liverpool US tour best XI: Kelleher; Bradley, Quansah, Van den Berg, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones; Elliott, Salah, Carvalho.

Note: the earlier version of the post omitted Quansah from the XI. It was a mistake on our part which we didn't spot before posting the article.

Agreed. Why put Bajcetic there when Quansah is available?
