Fred reveals how Carrick helped him reinvigorate United career

Fred has arguably been one of Manchester United's best performers this season. The Brazilian has opened up on Michael Carrick's role in his insane progress.

"Michael Carrick helps me a lot day-to-day," the 26-year-old told United People's TV. "We always talk and he tries to help me with my positioning on the field.

"Carrick is a guy that always helps me. He is someone that always talks to me, which is important for adapting my football for the Premier League.

"Because when I arrived I would control the ball in midfield and, well, one or two opposition players would come along and I'd be knocked off the ball. So now I can understand the game better and that I have to be quicker and stronger.

"Carrick helps me to calm down. We do some one-on-one training, so he's someone who influences me a lot at the club."

Fred had a slow start to the season. At the very beginning of the campaign, the Brazilian wasn't even making the squad. However, things have changed and the midfielder has been named in the starting XI in each of United's last 20 Premier League games.

All in all, the 26-year-old has made 35 appearances across all competitions, scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists this season so far.

Most recently, the midfielder scored a brace and recorded an assist in United's 5-0 win over Club Brugge at Old Trafford in the return leg of the Europa League Round of 32.

Fred has been mostly lauded for his defensive efforts, as well as for his ability to distribute the ball and to control the pace of the game.
