Daily Mail: De Gea wants assurances from United before signing new deal

David De Gea is still inclined to pledge his future to Manchester United but he wants assurances over the club's transfer policy. The report comes from Daily Mail's Adam Crafton who has good ties with De Gea and his coach Emiliano Alvarez.

Money is also an issue with the contract expiring in 2020. A compromise is expected to be found at around £350,000-a-week for the goalkeeper. Agent fees are complicating the deal though. The Spaniard is also one of a few United players who have concerns over the club's direction, notably the absence of director of football and a haphazard transfer market approach.

De Gea definitely prefers to stay at Old Trafford rather than move to Santiago Bernabeu where Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants him in his team. Head coach Zinedine Zidane would rather stick with Thibaut Courtois for one more year though. Just in case there is a 'trump card' in Paris St-Germain who would gladly meet De Gea's wage demands. The 28-year-old is 'warming' to a move to Ligue 1.

Over the eight years at Old Trafford, De Gea only has one Premier League title. The lack of ambition was already a complication in 2015 but back then the Spaniard was persuaded to extend his deal with the club.
