Patrice Evra announces retirement

Former United left-back Patrice Evra has retired from football aged 38. The Frenchman joined the Red Devils in a £5.5million deal from AS Monaco in January 2006 to spend 7 and a half successful seasons at Old Trafford:

  • Appearances - 379
  • Goals - 10
  • Assists - 40

He won the Champions League, five Premier League titles and three League Cups during his time at the club between 2007 and 2014.

“My playing career is officially over,” Evra told Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday. “I started training for the UEFA B Coaching License in 2013, now I want to finish it and then go on to get the UEFA A license.

“In a year and a half, if everything goes well, I’ll be ready to lead a team.”

Evra left United in 2014, a year after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. He went on to join Juventus where he claimed 3 Scudettos in 3 years before returning to France with Marseille. His final club was West Ham.
