Solskjaer: 'I'd like to say I'm the right man for the job but it's not down to me'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has held a press conference ahead of the Manchester derby. He's showed how he prefers to stay positive and composed in times of difficulties.

Solskjaer said when asked if he's the right man for the job: ''I'd like to say yes but it's not down to me to say that. I'm confident in my team, myself, that I'll be ready to take this challenge on. When you go through bad results, you've got to be confident enough to say 'This is the way we're going do it'.''

He was additionally asked if he's the man to make big decisions: ''I would like to think. I like all these boys. I love them. They are great lads. I have to manage for the club. I help the players but I manage for the club. I am putting all my efforts into doing what is right for the club.''

Ole sees enough positives in his spell so far as he said: ''It's been a great four months, we're learning all the time and we're still planning forward. How do we get United back to where we want to be? We've tried to inspire a reaction, but we haven't had time to work on the pitch with the players because they need recovery.

''Now is not the time to make wholesale changes. Only City and Liverpool have got more points than us in 18 games. There is United DNA in a lot of these players. The City is the best game we could ask for now.''

He concluded: ''That's the point: How do we go forward? That's what we've got to focus on. That (4-0 vs Everton) was one of two really bad performances since I've been here; that and the FA Cup game against Wolves. I don't like losing, but it's a great challenge. You have to still be comfortable enough to say 'This is the way I want to do it.' I love all these lads, but I've got to make decisions that are right for the club.''
