'I'm not someone to stay there for the sake of it': Man United-linked Harry Kane admits he could leave Spurs to fulfill his ambitions

Harry Kane has admitted that he's open to leaving Tottenham in the future amid rumours of an interest from Manchester United.

Speaking on The Spurs Web podcast on whether he wants to finish his career at the New White Hart Lane, the striker said: "I get asked this question a lot, it's one of them things, I couldn't say yes, I couldn't say no.

"I love Spurs, I'll always love Spurs, but it's one of them things I've always said if I don't feel like we're progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I'm not someone to stay there just for the sake of it.

"I'm an ambitious player. I want to become a top top player, so it all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So, it's not a definite I'm going to stay there forever but it's not a no either."

Kane has been sensationally linked with a move to Old Trafford following reports that the striker is reluctant to commit his future to Tottenham as they begin to undergo an extensive rebuild under new manager Jose Mourinho.

The Englishman's Spurs contract expires in the summer of 2024, which puts notorious Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in a commanding position ahead of the possible negotiations this summer.

The 26-year-old dreams of winning the Premier League one day, stating that he would rather lift the title than become the competition's highest goalscorer.

Kane added: "Premier League winner, for sure. I've broken some records, I've had some great success individually but I play this sport to win trophies as a team.

"So I don't think that you can take that moment away, working together as a team and coming together at the end and being champions. I prefer that [to become the highest goalscorer]."
