OFFICIAL: Premier League announce 1 positive from latest Covid-19 round of tests, Tottenham announce it comes from them

The fifth round of the Covid-19 testing across all 20 clubs has produced one positive result, the Premier League announced on Wednesday.

A person from Tottenham (either a player or a staff member) has tested positive for the novel coronavirus ahead of the league's return on June 17, it has been confirmed.

An official Spurs statement reads: "Due to medical confidentiality, the individual's name will not be disclosed. They are currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate for seven days before undergoing further testing."

The names of those diagnosed with the novel coronavirus will not be made public. Instead, their respective clubs will be notified and the Premier League itself will only be informed about the total number of positive tests to maintain confidentiality.

Premier League coronavirus testing so far:

  • Round 1: 748 tests, 6 positives from 3 clubs
  • Round 2: 996 tests, 2 positives from 2 clubs
  • Round 3: 1008 tests, 4 positives from 3 clubs
  • Round 4: 1130 tests, 0 positives
  • Round 5: 1197 tests, 1 positive from 1 club

The 2019/20 campaign is set to restart later this month and Manchester United are expected to be back in action on June 19 with an away clash against Jose Mourinho's side.
