‘Marcus, I am your father’: 4 reasons why former Ghanaian international's claim of being Rashford's biological father could be untrue

Former Ghana international Michael Boye Marquaye broke the internet earlier this week as he put forward a bizarre claim that Marcus Rashford is his biological son.

Marquaye admitted to having been in a relationship with Marcus' mum Melanie 22 years ago while expressing disappointment at the footballer's refusal to acknowledge him.

As incredulous as this claim sounds, Tribuna.com explores 4 reasons why his claim is as reliable as Alexis Sanchez (not).

  • His mum is possibly the most badass woman ever

To be a single mother and raise five young children while working full-time and earning minimum wage in the United Kingdom is no joke. And yet, Melanie did all that and more.

Rashford revealed that his family is incredibly proud of where they are from and even lauded his mother for playing a role in helping him earn a spot in United's famed Academy.

Even if what Marquaye said was true, his allegations fly straight into everything Rashford and his family believe in - and that's to never forget where you're from.

You think a badass woman like Melanie - who raised a phenomenal son - would hide something like this from him? We'll just leave it at that.

  • They don't really look similar

Genetics play a huge role in deciding our physical features - unless, of course, you're a Kardashian and you buy a new face every month.

Nevertheless, take a look at the photo below:

In addition to having different face structures, their features don't really look similar.

Marquaye's eyes are beadier while Rashford's eyes are more on the rounder side. While the former has a rather ubiquitous nose but Rashford's nose bears a striking resemblance to Melanie. Ditto for the rest of his facial features.

  • Why now?

Another reason why this is likely to be just a rumour is the timing of the declaration.

It makes no sense for someone to speak about his estranged biological son to the press instead of actually reaching out to him.

In the interview, Marquaye mentioned that he wanted the world to know of Rashford's Ghanaian roots. But again, if that's the case, why now all of a sudden?

It honestly doesn't sound logical enough, which gets us to the next and most important point.

  • Shady quotes that suggest shady biz

During the explosive interview, the 65-year-old said: "Nobody should dare nor challenge my claims but if they do, I will release damning evidence that will be damaging to the image of Rashford."

Biological father or not, the timing again seems suspect considering the fact that the entire UK rallied behind Rashford to laud him for his school meal voucher scheme success.

Also, we wonder what "damning" evidence he may have that could potentially "damage" the reputation of his own son. His words, not ours - you do the math.
