3 players United should ask for in Pogba swap deal

Paul Pogba would probably prefer a return to Juventus if an opportunity arose and considering Man United’s good relationship with the club, ironing out a deal would likely be easier with them. With Juventus’ finances reportedly being affected badly by the Covid-19 pandemic, they would perhaps prefer a swap deal themselves.

As our backline could use a boost, Matthijs De Ligt seems ideal to go for. The young Dutchman has huge potential and is strong enough to hold his own in the Premier League.

United were linked with De Ligt in the past and his value is close to Pogba's. Juventus are loaded with defenders right now, so they could agree to the deal and getting De Ligt would definitely strengthen our backline for the long-term.

If they are to sell Pogba, it’s rather obvious that United will be looking for a midfielder to replace him. So they could go for the hard-working midfielder who has a bright future in front of him in Rodrigo Bentancur. Bentancur is a real snappy midfielder who isn’t afraid of getting physical on the pitch and is a real livewire when it comes to recovering possession.

He has averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.6 interceptions (stats via WhoScored) per 90 minutes in Serie A for Juve this season. Bentancur knows how to recover possession and help his side dominate possession in midfield. He’s also got a creative side to him and moves the ball forward smoothly. The Uruguayan likes to keep things relatively simple, but possesses an excellent work-rate which can make him a good fit at Old Trafford.

United are still lacking some real fire-power in their centre-forward role, with Edinson Cavani and Odion Ighalo (due to leave soon) being the only natural centre-forwards at the club. Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood are still working their way into becoming one which could mean Solskjaer goes back to looking for another forward next summer.

If Real Madrid come calling, the Red Devils could ask for someone like Luka Jovic. The Serbian striker has hardly received any minutes this season and just hasn’t been able to adapt to the club properly.

But his failures at Madrid don’t tell the entire story. Jovic is a really good centre-forward, boasts impressive physicality and possess excellent goal-scoring instincts. He scored 27 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018/19 campaign and could excel under Solskjaer’s fast-paced attacking system.
