Boxing Legend Mike Tyson: ‘The first time I heard about Man City was because of Man United’

Recalling his thoughts on the football clubs in Manchester, Mike Tyson told The Clare Balding Show in 2013: “I’ve been in Manchester for a long period of time and I’ve never heard of Manchester City. The first time I heard about Manchester City was because of Manchester United.”

To be honest, when Tyson used to come to Manchester to fight (during the 1990s and early 2000s), Man City weren’t relevant at all. They used to struggle for mid-table finishes and only started to gain popularity once their rich owners took over.

Man United will aim to prove they are the superior club in Manchester with a compelling win over City in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday and paint the city red once again.
