Latest on Caicedo, Romero & 7 more: Man United transfer round-up with probability

INS

The Ecuadorian defensive midfielder was being linked to join Man United for quite some-time, but it’s been reported that Caicedo is no longer a priority for the Red Devils. It’s also said that he’s close to joining Brighton Hove & Albion and United are not chasing him anymore. So it seems a move for the highly-rated youngster won’t happen in this transfer window.

Probability: 2/10

United are said to be interested in buying an established right-back to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back spot, but Max Aarons doesn’t quite fit that bit. The 21-year-old is even younger than Spider-Wan and unlikely to be as good as him. While Aarons remains an ‘appreciated figure’ at Old Trafford, it doesn't look that the club will make a ploy to sign him anytime soon.

Probability: 3/10

Trippier does match the criteria of the right-back United are looking to sign in order to challenge Wan-Bissaka for the right-back spot. But after the Atletico Madrid man was suspended for 10-weeks for breaching gambling rules, the Red Devils have reportedly stalled talks. Trippier won’t be available for quite some-time anyhow, so it seems unlikely that United will pursue him in January.

Probability: 2/10

United were reportedly looking to sign a new centre-back due to our defensive issues this season. Ben White was among the few centre-backs United are rumoured to be interested to sign, but reports about him have withered away in recent weeks. Moreover, with Eric Bailly in such incredible form, it doesn’t look like the Red Devils will pursue a new centre-back this January.

Probability: 2/10

OUTS

Rojo hasn’t played for United in over a year now and is no longer in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans. The gaffer recently revealed that the Red Devils won’t extend the Argentine’s contract and are looking to find a new club for him. With Rojo reportedly having agreed a 2-year deal with Boca Juniors, it seems like the end of the road for his journey at Old Trafford is near.

Probability: 9/10

Much like Rojo, Romero also seems to be on his way out of United. He hasn’t made a single appearance for the club and, all in all, has been sharing a bitter relationship with the club after being denied an exit in the summer.

Ole also said that Romero will be sold in January with the club looking for suitable buyers for him. With the Argentine also having told the Carrington staff his goodbyes, it seems like he's closing in on an exit too.

Probability: 8/10

Solskjaer also revealed that Timothy Fosu-Mensah will be leaving the club soon, be it in January of in the summer. The Dutch defender is said to have a few European clubs aiming to sign him. United could end up budging on their demands to grant Fosu-Mensah his move and allowing him to get more game-time elsewhere.

Probability: 8/10

Lingard is yet another player who seems to be closing in on the end of his journey at Old Trafford. He hasn’t made an appearance in over 3 months now and is a loan target for Sheffield United in January.

However, the Red Devils recently gave him a one-year contract extension and it’s been reported that Lingard will play against Watford. So it seems he still might have some time remaining at United and will probably be sold in the summer rather than now.

Probability: 5/10

It’s still quite remarkable that United have not been able to sell Jones even though it’s clear his career at Old Trafford is over. The centre-back has some potential suitors willing to buy him, but United’s reported £20m asking fee might drive everyone away. The Red Devils need to make some sacrifices and bring down their demands or keep paying Jones for doing absolutely nothing.

Probability: 4/10
