OFFICIAL: Nicky Butt steps down as head of first-team development

Nicky Butt has stepped down from his role as the head of first-team development at Old Trafford, Manchester United announced on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old, who has worked in various coaching and player development roles for the past 9 years, is leaving to pursue 'a new professional challenge'.

During his time with the Red Devils' Academy, Butt has worked closely with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe, Dean Henderson and Mason Greenwood.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Englishman said: "It's been an absolute privilege to work with a new generation of talent. But it feels like the right moment for a new professional challenge."
