David De Gea conceded all 11 penalties in the Europa League final penalty shootout.
For some reason, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to stick with the goalkeeper who's not quite known for stopping spot-kicks.
Alright, so according to Transfermarkt, De Gea last saved a penalty in season 2015-16. More precisely on 26 April 2016, so more than 5 years ago. It happened in the FA Cup clash against Everton with Romelu Lukaku fumbling his attempt.
In total, De Gea has claimed 11 penalties in his career, 5 of them with Man United.
As per the same source, the Spaniard has failed to deal with 53 penalty kicks. Apparently, those 11 more he couldn't save against Villarreal will soon be added to the list.
It could be argued that De Gea also saved one against Crystal Palace in September 2020 but alas, the referee asked to re-take it because he deemed the goalkeeper was high off his line.
